My career journey into massage and manual therapies began when I enrolled in the one-year comprehensive Shiatsu Therapy program at Sourcepoint Shiatsu Centre, graduating in 2006. I then became registered with the Shiatsu Therapy Association of BC. In recent years, I realized a long-time goal of becoming a Registered Massage Therapist after graduating from the 3000-hour RMT program in BC.
I enjoy integrating a wholistic balance of eastern medicine philosophy with western modalities into my treatments and am always seeking to understand the root cause of a person’s pain and discomfort, bringing them back to harmony, balance and a more fulfilling life free from chronic pain.
Since graduating from the RMT program, I have completed multiple courses in advanced orthopedic assessments, treatments in sacral balancing, hip/pelvis assessment and treatment, and deep tissue techniques. As a life-long learner, my inspiration is to deepen my knowledge and understanding of the human form in all its dimensions and complexities of body, mind and spirit.
In my private life, I enjoy researching and increasing my knowledge in massage therapy/osteopathy, health topics, personal growth, off-grid living, quiet nature walks and hiking with friends, home workouts, meditation, yoga, and being on the ocean.
Considering the high level of seemingly unrelenting stress in our society, I understand that a sense of consistent wellbeing is a reliable springboard to success in one’s life. While deep tissue massage can alleviate the stress caused by chronic muscle pain, there is an overlapping arch between deep tissue and deep shiatsu techniques that makes either one indistinguishable from the other. Shiatsu meridians, their acupressure points and various techniques facilitating the vagus nerve are other dimensions of my practice I use in my endeavour to assist you imbibe a sense of calm into your “rest and digest” state.
